Our verdict
When you think of Ann Summers, you’d be forgiven for thinking of sexy lingerie but the brand actually has some great casual loungewear options we think are worth taking a look at.
This two-piece set is ideal for comfy days on the sofa as customers say the leggings are so comfortable. Plus, there’s adorable embroidery on the left of the chest that reads ‘Just Be You’ and ‘You Are More Than Enough’ to the left cuff.
Some customers have said the top is an oversized fit but that doesn’t have to be a negative and may be perfect for your off-duty style

What Mumsnet users say
“Sweaty Betty cropped Gary's are what I've been living in too! Yes, before lockdown I would have baulked at the price too but not paying train fare means I had spare money. They have paid for themselves on pay per wear.” - recommended by Mumsnet user Jumbojem
Our verdict
You may baulk at the idea of spending £90 on a pair of pants but this style from Sweaty Betty has plenty of devoted fans. They’re a great alternative to leggings but unlike some bulky joggers, they’re lightweight and breathable - which makes them perfect for exercise. The material is sweat-wicking too and can absorb a ton of moisture.
One complaint is that the sizing can throw people off but many of our Mumsnet users suggested going up a size. And if you’re short, try the cropped style as it will likely fall at your ankle.

“I have skims loungewear and it’s my favourite thing ever.” - Brand recommended by Mumsnet user SheABitSpicyToday
Our verdict
Kim K’s Skims range has become a global hit thanks to its buttery-soft fabric and inclusive size range.
The Fits Everybody range is made from high-performance material that is soft but also incredibly stretchy and so supportive. With its seamless design, it’s very flattering on the silhouette and will sculpt your waist without feeling restrictive or tight.
The sizing is very broad so there’s definitely a fit to suit everybody. The one downside is the price point but the range is made from great quality material so this is an investment piece that will last.
5. Best loungewear for breathability: Bamboo Clothing Cuillin Bamboo Sweatpants
Price on writing: £30 | Buy now from Bamboo

Our verdict
Bamboo clothing is such a great alternative to most synthetic fabrics. Not only is it so lightweight and breathable but it is sweat-wicking and can absorb moisture.
These tracksuit bottoms from Bamboo clothing are such a comfortable fit and the fabric feels so soft on the skin. The elasticated waistband is ideal for comfort and they come in a nice range of colours.
One of the downsides is they only go up to a size 16, so no ideal for plus-size builds. Plus, many customers have said that they run a little big in sizing but also long in the leg.

Our verdict
This Amazon set is such a great find for the price. There’s a good choice of colours and the sizing runs to a XXL. We love that there’s nine colours to choose from, so, if you bought a couple you could mix and match.
One thing customers have noted is that whilst the set is machine-washable, it can bobble after a few washes so it may be worth investing in a gentle detergent.

As well as recommendations from our Mumsnet users, these lounge pants have over a thousand reviews on their site - with many saying they feel like a second skin.
The bamboo material is so soft against the skin but also so breathable. That makes them the ideal clothing for lounge or activewear. The pants also have pockets, which is such a practical addition and ideal for storing your phone during workouts.
The high price may be hard to stomach at first but so many reviews say they’ve fallen so in love, they purchased multiple pairs. So maybe some things are worth investing in.

Our verdict
Good quality pyjamas that look good and feel great are the ultimate find. This set might not be the most ideal to leave the house in but you certainly look presentable enough to open the front door and they’re so comfortable for lounging.
They have an adjustable waistband but also an elasticated back so you can find your ideal fit.
There’s also a huge variety of colours and patterns to choose from. The high price may feel excessive but considering the glowing reviews, theses pyjamas seem to be worth every penny.

Our verdict
In all honesty, it’s hard to find fault with this teddy from Ann Summers. It’s such a comfortable fit with just a subtle hint of sex appeal. The elasticated waistband adds to the comfort levels and the viscose fabric feels so good against the skin.
Customers have said this teddy is so comfortable to wear, great quality for the price and ideal for lounging around the house.
The only downside is it’s only available in black. And we love it so much, we just wish we could snap it up in every colour!

What Mumsnet users say
“Boden harems are lovely and soft (and not baggy despite the name)” - Product recommended by Mumsnet user Gillybobs
Our verdict
Boden is such a popular brand amongst our Mumsnet users and their harem jersey pants are a failsafe option for cosy at-home comfort. The soft fabric feels so comfortable against the skin and the large waistband is very flattering on the tummy and can grow with you.
Some customers said the trousers can run a little short in the leg, so it may be worth bearing in mind when you order.Plus, they’re at a higher price point but based on the reviews, they seem to be worth the splurge.
What is loungewear?
This term describes the kind of clothing that you can wear around the house. The emphasis is on comfortable and breathable clothing that is ideal for relaxation. Since the pandemic, the desire for loungewear that is not only comfortable but also stylish has grown - especially with so many of us working from home.
What material is best for loungewear?
You want to choose fabrics that are breathable, especially for the hotter months. Cotton is lightweight and allows for air to flow easily through. Some of the picks in our list are moisture-wicking, which makes them ideal for more vigorous activities, like workouts. In the winter months, you may prefer a thicker material to keep you cosy.
Can I work from home in loungewear?
Why not? Some loungewear options look so stylish and chic. For example, the teddy from Ann Summers in our top picks has lace detailing in the top which makes it perfect for Zoom calls.
What’s the best loungewear to buy?
M&S was impressive with its variety of options and a huge fan favourite. Plus, it offers high quality clothing at an affordable price. Kim Kardashian's Skims range is ideal if you want to splurge, plus her Fits Everybody range is so versatile and the pieces can work for lounging or socialising.
