Bella Italia, on the south eastern tip of Lake Garda is a fab spot for families who love a bit of adventure and sightseeing. I travelled with two young kids in tow and they both loved the on-site pools, waterslides and splash park. And we all appreciated the location which offers direct access to Lake Garda's stunning shoreline.
The site's own little train which runs to nearby Peschiera del Garda was a particular family highlight and we found it easy to explore local towns via the ferry.
There's a kids' club and loads of activities including football, volleyball, archery and our boys' favourite, the Bel Park amusement parks complete with trampolines and bouncy castles.
We flew into Verona and took a 25-minute taxi ride to the site. It's really easy to get to from the UK and we didn't feel like we needed a car while there.
Note that it's a busy site, particularly in July and August, and it was often a struggle to find pool loungers, but it's a fun-packed spot in a stunning location and I'd recommend it as a great summer escape for families.

Park Albatros in Tuscany is a real gem for families looking for fun and sun. Spread over 30 lush acres and located next to the Rimigliano pine forest, this parc overlooks the stunning Baratti Bay.
There’s a fabulous pool complex with three lagoon pools, a family pool with a retractable cover, a toddler pool, and even an Olympic-sized one. When you’re done splashing around, check out the awesome kids’ activities the parc offers or hit the nearby sandy beach. Hungry? You're sorted with a variety of dining options to choose from – you’ll find rustic Italian dishes on offer plus a pizzeria, a snack bar, a creperie, and a gelateria that serves homemade ice cream. And, there's a free mini train to zip you around the parc!

Camping Village Fabulous is exactly as it sounds – a fantastic spot bursting with excitement, just a stone's throw from the gorgeous Ostia coast and a 30-minute drive from Rome.
The brilliant pool complex has got everything an active family could want – a massive swimming pool, a lagoon pool, waterslides and even a whirlpool. When hunger strikes, hit up the superb restaurant and bar, or grab a cool treat from the gelateria.

Marina di Venezia is perfect for those who like their holidays large and lively. Located near Punta Sabbioni’s ferry port, a short hop from Venice, this top-notch parc is buzzing with energy.
Dive into the Olympic-sized swimming pool at the superb pool complex which also features a large kids’ pool and fun waterslides. The main piazza is a hub of convenience with a supermarket, a diving school, restaurants, and even a hairdresser. From June, the ‘animatore’ ramps up the fun with activities and evening entertainment for everyone.
There's a stunning white sandy beach just at the back of the campsite. Or, if you're feeling adventurous, you can explore the beautiful surrounding woodland on a bike.

Portofelice Camping Village on the Adriatic coast, is a lively parc packed with fun things to do and it's often one of the cheaper Eurocamp sites, especially if you can book in advance. Kick off your stay with a visit to the awesome playground, kitted out with trampolines and mini go-karts. Then, head to the on-site restaurant for something tasty to eat. The parc is surrounded by nature, so take a stroll through the pine trees to the long sandy beach, complete with a bar for your snack and drink needs.
The pool complex is great for families, with three pools and two water slides. And if you want to explore a bit further afield you can hop on the daily bus in peak season to Punta Sabbioni, then take a boat to Venice and the surrounding islands.

Can you take dogs to Eurocamps in Italy?
While some Eurocamps in Italy don’t allow dogs, most do let you take them on holiday with you. You’ll most likely have to keep them on a lead though.
What’s included in the price of a Eurocamp stay?
Your Eurocamp stay includes accommodation, access to the kids’ clubs, and use of facilities on site including swimming pools, activities, and entertainment. Meals aren’t included so you’ll need to make your own food or head to the on-site restaurants. Duvets and pillows are generally provided but you’ll need to bring your own linens, or reserve them in advance of your trip.

We think the best Eurocamp in Italy is Bella Italia. At the edge of Lake Garda, there's lots to do in the immediate area plus a choice of awesome pools and waterslides on-site. The authentic restaurant offers lake views and Italian dishes and there's a daily kids' club in the summer months. It's just a 25-minute drive from Verona Airport making it one of the easiest Eurocamp sites to get to from the UK, particularly if you don't want to drive.

Because we know that there's nothing like a real recommendation from a fellow parent, we first headed to the Mumsnet forums to find out which Eurocamp sites were being recommended for families.
