Looking for a safe and efficient way to keep your baby cool on the go this summer? Here’s our pick of the best pram fans as recommended by Mumsnet users.
By Lucy Cotterill | Last updated Aug 19, 2025
The sunshine has started to make an appearance at last. While better weather provides plenty more opportunities to head outside with your pushchair, keeping your baby cool and comfortable can be challenging when the temperatures start to rise.
With guides to the best neck fans and the best handheld fans, we couldn't leave out the youngest members of the family from our quest for portable fans that'll keep you cool while out and about.
Babies can’t regulate their body temperature the same way adults can, so it’s important to look after their well-being to keep them safe on warmer days. As well as dressing your baby in cool clothing like cotton and linen, or using one of the best pram parasols to shade your baby from the sun, Mumsnet users rave about portable pram fans. These safe and efficient fans attach to your baby’s pushchair or stroller to provide a cool and comforting breeze when your child needs it the most, reducing the risk of overheating while keeping them calm and content on your travels.
To help you pick the best pram fan for your family, we tapped into the tried and tested experiences of Mumsnet users, gaining their feedback on the pram fans they rate and would happily recommend to others. After scouring retailer sites, collating wider consumer feedback and gaining the views of industry experts, we’re confident with our pick of the best, with options to suit every budget and style or pushchair.

While it’s not the cheapest pram fan you can choose, you certainly get value for money with this versatile choice from Mumsnet trusted brand Munchkin. With four fan speeds and a full 360 degrees of movement, it can easily adapt to the weather conditions to keep your baby cool, calm and comfortable.
While it may take some practice initially, the three flexible arms can soon be attached to prams, car seats and playpens with ease, allowing you to use the fan both inside and outside the home when needed.
We love the USB rechargeable battery that provides powerful cooling for up to eight hours, significantly more than some of our other top picks. The fan is also fully contained within a protective grill - so you can be confident curious fingers won’t make contact with the blades.

If you’re on a more limited budget or simply want some money left over for souvenirs, the Dreambaby Ezy-Fit Deluxe Pram Fan comes with a really affordable price tag, so you’ll even get some change from a tenner.
With caged blades for safety, this powerful fan provides impressive cooling with a low running volume, using a handy clip that clamps onto your pushchair bumper bar or chassis. While reviewers found it quick and easy to attach, some found it could fall off relatively easily when navigating bumpier terrain.
It’s also worth mentioning that this pram fan isn’t rechargeable, so you’ll need to stock up on your AA batteries to ensure it’s ready when you need it. Alternatively, you could opt for Dreambaby’s three-speed USB version instead, but you’ll pay twice as much for the benefit.

How do you safely use a pram fan?
For safety, here are some things you should consider when using a pram fan:
Attachment and positioning - Whether it uses a clip or flexible tripod stand, it's important to ensure your pram fan is securely attached, ideally out of reach from your baby or toddler's curious hands. Whilst most pram fans have protective cages or bladeless designs, positioning the fan at a distance that is inaccessible to your child will prevent it from being knocked or detached from the frame during use.
Avoid blowing directly into your baby’s face - Whilst you can angle the fan to create a breeze for your baby, it’s important not to blow it directly into your child’s face, particularly if you are using the higher speed settings. A high-speed fan directly in your child’s face has the potential to negatively impact your child’s respiratory system, affecting their normal breathing patterns.
Check your child regularly - Check your baby regularly during use to ensure their temperature is comfortable - they mustn’t get too cold either!
Don’t over-rely on it - While a pram fan can be beneficial, it shouldn’t be used as a single solution when the temperatures rise. It’s also important to dress your baby appropriately including lightweight layers, hats and using sunshades to protect them from the sun.

How we chose the best pram fan
Because we know that there’s nothing like a genuine recommendation from a real parent, we first headed to the Mumsnet forums to find out which praml fans Mumsnet users had bought and would happily recommend to others.
Next, we compiled a list of fans they recommended, noting how effective they found them and whether they were particularly good for specific situations or pushchairs.
We then researched the wider web, looking at which pram fans had won accolades or been featured in ‘best buy’ lists across websites and print media and scrutinised reviews to learn more about the verdicts of customers.
