I tested Mumsnet's best budget heated throw from Mia & Coco, here's my verdict
Thanks to its low price tag and range of temperature settings, the Mia&Coco Heated Throw is one of our bestsellers this year, but does it live up to the hype? I put it to the test at home during a chilly autumn - here's my verdict.

Boasting an impressive 10 temperature settings, a timer for safe use in bed, and an easy-to-operate control panel, the Mia&Coco Heated Throw is a standout choice for those looking to stay warm and cosy without blowing the budget.
I've tested premium heated throws as well as budget ones, and this one stands out as a great value heated throw that'll keep you warm and help you turn down your central heating - plus it's soft and snuggly enough for a comfy evening on the sofa.
There were a few minor drawbacks; it's not as thick and luxurious as other more expensive options and it takes a while to dry after being washed, but overall these were small gripes and we think it's a great buy for winter.
What is the Mia&Coco Heated Throw Blanket?
The Mia&Coco is an electric over blanket, designed to be used either on top of the wearer in bed or for snuggling up to on the sofa. It has heating elements throughout the blanket which are powered via the mains, and there's a control panel which you use to toggle between the different temperature options and set the timer (up to nine hours).
Crafted from a soft flannel and sherpa fleece, it has a two-sided design for extra comfort, and there's a choice of three sizes and four colours to choose between. We also love that it's machine washable too; you just need to make sure you remove the control panel before popping it in your washing machine.

How easy is the Mia&Coco Heated Throw to use?
The Mia&Coco was extremely easy to operate, with a straightforward set of controls and a power cord that's easy to clip into place. While the control panel isn't quite as simple and intuitive as a Dreamland one, the Mia & Coco actually has a bigger range of settings, with 10 heat levels and a timer for 1-9 hours.
In contrast, Dreamland heated throws like the Alaskan Husky Throw have 6 heat settings and a choice of a 1-, 3- or 6-hour timer - plus they're more expensive than the Mia&Coco blanket.
How warm is the Mia&Coco Heated Throw?
Onto the important question: does the Mia&Coco provide sufficient warmth on chilly winter days? I tested the smallest version, which measures 120x160cm (just right for a single bed), and it was more than big enough to keep me warm while I worked from home or relaxed on the sofa. There's really no need for central heating when it's just me at home and I have this heated throw - it does the job just as well as more expensive options.
There are 10 temperature settings to choose between, I like setting 4 to keep me nicely toasty over the course of the day. The higher settings are great when sharing the blanket over two or three laps on the sofa - and the dogs love it when we crank up the heat.
Design and style: Mia&Coco Heated Throw
The Mia&Coco heated throw is a stylish choice, which looks just as good draped over a sofa as it does on a bed. Available in four muted colour options, it blends in nicely with just about any living room, home office or bedroom.
The sherpa fleece isn't as soft and silky feeling as more expensive throws, but it is cosy.
In terms of size, there's three options to choose between (160 x 120cm; 180 x 130cm; 200 x 180cm), and which one is the right pick for you really comes down to personal preference. I tested the smallest (and cheapest) option, which fits a single bed perfectly (see above photo). At such a great price, it's among the cheapest ways to keep warm while working from home this winter.
How easy is it to wash the Mia&Coco Heated Throw Blanket?
Luckily, any spills or stains can easily be sorted out in the washing machine. The power cord can be easily unplugged from the blanket, and it can be washed in the washing machine up to 40°C.
That being said, it does take a long time to dry (and can't be tumble dried), so you may have to wait a day or two until it's back in action. A dehumidifier will help speed up the process without damaging the blanket.
Price: does the Mia&Coco Heated Throw offer good value for money?
We think the Mia&Coco offers exceptional value for money. With prices starting from £45 depending on the size, it comes much cheaper than other options on the market. Plus, it's the budget heated throw that gets recommended time and again on the Mumsnet forums.
It's not just the initial cost where this blanket offers good value; it can even save you on heating bills in the long run. Costing 4p per hour to run on its highest setting, it's much cheaper than running your central heating - especially if there's only one person at home. If you're looking for a way to reduce your central heating use, this heated blanket is a smart way to do it.

How I tested
I've tested 10 heated blankets so far, comparing their performance and comfort while taking into consideration price and durability. I tested the Mia&Coco Heated Throw at home during cold weather in autumn. Taking detailed notes on heat distribution, user-friendliness and warmth, I tested the throw in my WFH office and on the sofa in my sitting room.
